Golf Courses in Hong Kong

There’s only six golf courses in Hong Kong, or rather six golf clubs and ten golf courses which is not a lot for a city with a population of seven million people. Only two of these are officially public golf courses in Hong Kong and only one of those – Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course, is a full 18 holes, or in this case, 54 holes. Sky City Nine Eagles is an executive 9-hole golf course.

Getting membership at any of these golf courses in Hong Kong is about as difficult as getting a date with Scarlett Johansson, unless you have way too much money and are skilled in the art of brown nosing, plus willing to put up with a very (very) long waiting list. Whilst only Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course is public, you can actually play almost all of the private golf courses in Hong Kong during weekdays, and if you’re a HK Resident or Hong Kong Golf Association member, you can enjoy somewhat of a discount. It’s certainly not cheap to play at any of the golf courses in Hong Kong, but we do recommend playing at least one of the three courses at Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course, the course has spectacular views and makes for one memorable day out.

Once you’ve managed to gain access to any of the golf courses in Hong Kong, the next challenge is getting there. You’ll need to drive at least 40 minutes to get to any of the golf courses in Hong Kong from Central and most will cost you HKD$250-300 one way in a taxi. When you live here as long as we have, then you get used to it (the lack of golf courses in Hong Kong) but for anybody visiting the city, playing golf in Hong Kong can be a bit of a hassle.
