Gregory Bourdy and Rory McIlroy Finish 1-2 at Hong Kong Golf Open

Fairhaven, MA (November 16, 2009) – It was a Titleist Brand Ambassador 1-2 finish at the Golf in Hong Kong Open, where Gregory Bourdy survived a late challenge from rising star Rory McIlroy to win by two shots. Bourdy closed with a 3-under 67 to finish with a 19-under 261 total, clinching his third career European Tour title. Bourdy vaults into the top 60 on the 2009 money list with the win, qualifying him for the season-ending Race to Dubai. McIlroy, who fired a final round 6-under 64, advanced to the top of the list following his performance golfing in Hong Kong.


Titleist was the top golf ball choice among players at the event with 93 players, compared to 18 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also first in iron sets (35) and wedges (150). The event is co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour.

PGA TOUR: Titleist Brand Ambassador George McNeill (Pro V1, 909D3 driver, 906F2 fairway metals, New MB irons, Vokey Design sand and Spin Milled lob wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) posted a runner-up finish following a three-way playoff at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic. All three finished at 18-under 270.


Titleist Brand Ambassador Jimmy Walker (Pro V1, 909D2 driver, 909F2 3-wood, 906F4 5-wood, New MB irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Tour) was one of two players to move inside the top 125 following the season-ending event after beginning the week outside. Walker, who finished in a tie for 14th, six strokes out of the playoff, went from No. 130 to No. 125 to retain his full PGA Tour status for 2010.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas (Pro V1, 909D2 driver, 909F3 fairway metal, New CB irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Kombi putter) led the field in Driving Distance with an average of 301 yards, while also finishing 3rd in Greens in Regulation (84.7). Haas fired four consecutive rounds in the 60’s en route to a T-11 finish.

Titleist was the top golf ball choice among players at the event with 90 players, more than six times the nearest competitor with 14. Titleist was also first in iron sets (42), wedges (134) and putters (54).
