Green Live

Green Live is Hong Kong’s newest and largest indoor golf facility featuring Golfzon, Korean’s most popular golf simulator technology. Since opening in Cheung Sha Wan shortly after Asia Golf closed down, Green Live has opened branches in Kwun Tong and Mega Box in Kowloon Bay. They’re also looking to open on Hong Kong Island.

The Cheung Sha Wan location is located in the D2 Shopping Mall, right opposite exit D2 of the Cheung Sha Wan MTR. There is parking a pitching wedge away. Green Live’s Cheung Sha Wan location is large, over 20,000 sq ft featuring a number of private rooms as well as a huge open area where lessons take place and those wanting to practice on the simulators driving range mode play. We had a private room. The simulators are awesome and feature sloping bases making the experience that much more realistic. There’s numerous courses to choose from including Mission Hills and many Asian courses, something that other golf simulators such as Full Swing Golf, are missing.

The Golfzon simulators also feature a system where you don’t have to retrieve the balls, after every shot the ball pops up on the tee, a small but useful feature that other golf simulators don’t have. You can also adjust the tee height which is another small, but important factor for many people.

The service at Green Live is excellent, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and it’s good to see a Hong Kong company has obviously paid attention to the service delivery, something other local companies should take note of. The overall setup is good and you can order drinks and food and it covers almost every aspect of golf – Green Live is equally suited and well set up for the serious player wanting to practice or take lessons, the average hacker who wants to just have a drink and hit a few balls, groups, corporate events and well pretty much anything.

The only drawback is price, it costs an astounding $600 per person to play 18 holes. I don’t know about you, but we’d rather go play at KSC for around the same price. To be honest, we’re not huge fans of indoor golf or golf simulators and prefer the real thing so perhaps for other people who don’t mind being indoors and can’t afford the time it takes to go play outside, this price is less of an issue. And to be fair, if you are planning on going there on a regular basis, they do offer some good membership programs which makes going there a lot less expensive and provides some good value.

We’ll have a full review of Green Live in our blog next week so check that out for a more comprehensive run down on the technology and playing there.
